Fernie’s Own Kaleb Barnum Impresses in World Cup Debut
Fernie native Kaleb Barnum made a notable entry into the World Cup ski cross circuit, finishing 30th in his debut race at Idre Fjäll, Sweden. This achievement is particularly commendable given the challenges Barnum faced earlier in the season.
In February 2025, during a European Cup race in Les Contamines, France, Barnum suffered significant injuries, including a concussion, torn rotator cuff, and lower back injury. After intensive rehabilitation in Calgary, he returned to competition in March, securing his first Top 10 finish with an eighth-place result in Reiteralm, Austria.
